FedPoint Celebrates 20 Years in Business

Portsmouth, NH (March 30, 2022)—Federal benefits contractor FedPoint is celebrating a milestone this year—two decades of success and growth in business.

The company, a wholly owned subsidiary of John Hancock Life & Health Company, was established in 2002 to administer the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP), following the enactment of the Long-Term Care Security Act in 2000. Today, FedPoint serves as a leading third-party administrator of multiple large-scale insurance and health benefit programs for millions of active and retired members of the federal civilian workforce and military, as well as their dependents.

The company first opened its doors on May 6, 2002, at its Pease International Tradeport location with only a handful of employees but saw its workforce grow to 70 by the end of its first year. Fast-forward 20 years and FedPoint now employs more than 400 full-time professionals, 18 of whom are celebrating their 20th anniversary alongside the company. FedPoint CEO Paul Forte cited FedPoint's employees as the engine behind the company's success and forward progress, noting that in addition to the 18 original 20-year veterans, another 119 employees have been with the company a decade or more, a statistic he says underscores the company's commitment to career growth and longevity.

Since its inception, FedPoint has built its reputation on providing expert administrative services, well-designed and secure platforms, and exceptional experiences for its customers through innovative thinking, process design, and well-thought-out use of technology. Known as Long Term Care Partners for much of its existence, the company rebranded to the trade name FedPoint in 2020 to reflect its expanded skillset and reach. In addition to administering the FLTCIP, an employer-sponsored program overseen by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), FedPoint has been under contract since 2006 to administer the OPM-sponsored BENEFEDS platform and service center used by millions of eligible federal and military participants to enroll in and pay for their dental and vision coverage.

"The growth we've seen over the past 20 years applies to more than just our business lines," said Forte, who has helmed the company since day one. "The size of our employee base, the scope of our technical capabilities, our digital footprint, our network of federal and military contacts, and our positive reputation have expanded dramatically since our early days."

"FedPoint's workforce, past and present, has played a critical role in helping this company evolve—an evolution that's still underway, I might add," said Forte. "I credit our employees for everything they’ve done to build this company, make FedPoint a great place to work, and position us for continued growth and prosperity in the future."

Committed to the community
Guided by a belief that to act as a responsible steward, a company must provide service that extends beyond its own clients and customers, FedPoint has established itself as a dedicated community partner. The company has built lasting relationships with numerous organizations in the Seacoast over the years, providing support through its workplace giving programs, volunteer efforts, corporate donations, and sponsorships.

FedPoint also strives to provide support to the military through annual giving and a commitment to hiring veterans. Nearly 10 percent of its workforce are veterans. In November 2021, FedPoint was designated a platinum-level business in the New Hampshire Veteran-Friendly Business Program, the highest level achievable within the program. In 2019 and 2020, FedPoint received the Hire Vets Award from the U.S. Department of Labor in recognition of its support for veterans in the realm of hiring.

Looking ahead, Forte said, "We're still young as companies go, and there is a bright future ahead of us. Our employees truly believe that we're building something special and that what we're doing improves the lives of men and women of the federal civilian workforce and the armed services."

Forte said to give back to the employees and the community, FedPoint is planning several anniversary-themed activities throughout the year, including its annual employee summer outing and special corporate giving initiatives.
